Edmonton police are searching for a SUV they say is connected with a hit-and-run collision that left a woman seriously injured Friday. In a news release, police said they responded to a 6:15 p.m. report of a collision in the area of 28 Avenue and Youville Drive W NW involving a female pedestrian.

Police said a woman in her 50s was crossing 28 Avenue northbound in a marked crosswalk just east of Youville Drive, when she was struck by an older model Chevrolet Trailblazer driving west on 28 Avenue.

“The woman was launched several meters after being struck and the Trailblazer subsequently fled north on Youville Drive without stopping,” police said. EMS paramedics arrived on scene and transported the woman to hospital where she remains with serious injuries. Police are asking anyone who may have dashcam footage of the Trailblazer or the moments leading up to the collision to contact police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
