Theatre Woodstock welcomes federal recovery grant

The $75,000 grant delivered via the Oxford Community Foundation will help the community theatre company adapt to a post-pandemic world The Local Community Theatre troupe, Theatre Woodstock, has received $75,000 from the Community Services Recovery Fund (CSA), a federal grant to help its volunteers modernize their services and invest in the future of their organizations, staff, and volunteers. The fund, administered locally by the Oxford Community Foundation, is a one-time $400-million investment by the Government of Canada. The Canadian Red Cross and the United Way chapters of the United States have also contributed to disbursing the fund. The theatre is committed to providing Woodstock and Oxford County with quality, award-winning live theatre.

“Community service organizations are at the heart of communities like Woodstock, creating a sense of belonging from coast to coast to coast,” Social Development Minister Jenna Sudds said in a release. “The Community Services Recovery Fund will enable organizations like Theatre Woodstock that serve our diverse communities to adapt and modernize their programs and services, and to invest in the future of their organizations, staff and volunteers. “Together, we can rebuild from the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic and build a more just and equitable future for those in Woodstock and Oxford County

Administered locally by the Oxford Community Foundation, the fund is a one-time $400-million investment by the Government of Canada, a release stated. The Canadian Red Cross and the country’s United Way chapters have also joined the Community Foundation of Canada in disbursing the fund. “We would like to thank Oxford Community Foundation for their work with the Community Services Recovery Fund and their continued support for Theatre Woodstock,” theatre officials said in the release. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with Oxford Community Foundation as we strive to provide Woodstock and Oxford County with quality, award-winning live theatre,” officials added.
