Porter Airlines continues to expand into Western Canada from Ottawa with the announcement today of daily service between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Calgary International Airport (YYC) with its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

This follows a similar announcement from Porter in July of a non-stop route between YOW and Edmonton International Airport (YEG), which began Oct. 4, with one daily roundtrip flight using the Embraer aircraft.

“This exciting addition to our flight offerings not only strengthens business and government ties between our regions, but also enhances tourism opportunities for travellers seeking a seamless connection to our country’s capital city,” said Myron Keehn, president and CEO of YEG, in a news release in July.

The Calgary service is slated to begin Feb. 14 next year. Porter also flies direct to Vancouver from Ottawa.

“This route not only strengthens business ties, but also offers travellers easy access to the vibrant, culturally-rich destinations of Ottawa-Gatineau, and Calgary and the Rockies, two destinations people eagerly seek to explore and engage in business activities,” said Mark Laroche, president and CEO of the Ottawa International Airport Authority, in a release Tuesday.
